Everyone has been anxious at some time during their lives. This often happens before an important event such as a job interview, a presentation or an examination. Anxiety is a reaction to stress and can be positive when it precipitates action and helps us to cope. It is the body’s natural fight or flight response to a particular stimulus.
However, when anxiety becomes excessive or irrational then it can become very debilitating and may become an anxiety disorder. There are 5 types of anxiety disorder:

Anxiety and excessive self consciousness in social situations
The first port of call for severe anxiety should be your G.P. as you may need specialized treatment and medication
If you have already talked to your G.P. and your G.P. recommends stress management or if your anxiety is not so severe or event related then hypnotherapy can be extremely helpful. You can learn to relax, begin to identify and reduce the underlying causes of anxiety. Focussing on positive outcomes and developing coping strategies can help you to feel more calm, confident and optimistic about life.
