Hypnotherapy Supervision
I am a hypnotherapy supervisor validated by the General Hypnotherapy Register offering 1 to 1 supervision sessions to practising hypnotherapists.
Supervision is a confidential working relationship between supervisor and hypnotherapist that facilitates the exploration of the hypnotherapist's therapeutic practice. In a supportive environment, the hypnotherapist can explore client work undertaken, ethical issues, changes in direction, further hypnotherapy training requirements, the relationship between theory and practice, practice management issues, emotional and motivational issues, and any number of other problems and goals that arise in the course of working as a therapist. It is a requirement of professional membership in the first few years of practice and continues to be useful on a voluntary basis. Hypnotherapy Supervision is very supportive in the early stages of practice and continues to assist and encourage reflection on client issues and the therapist / client relationship therefore facilitates reflective practice thus encouraging both personal and professional development.
Frequency and duration
Typically, supervision is monthly. Individual face-to-face supervision will normally be one hour in duration but may be contracted for longer if desirable or necessary. Supervision varies between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on requirements of client numbers and needs.
In the early days of practice there can be understandable concern about the cost of supervision versus relatively low client numbers. However, it is in these early days of practice that supervision is even more vital as therapists are relatively inexperienced. Even a couple of clients a month can create ethical dilemmas or problems.
Fees
A 1 to 1 supervision session is £50 for an hour, up to one and a half hours is £70. The sessions are usually held monthly at my practice in Chiswick.
