All things are in the process of change - you yourself are ceaselessly undergoing transformation and the decay of some of your parts. So is the whole Universe.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Although the term hypnotherapy derives from the Greek word "hypnos" meaning sleep, the state attained in hypnotherapy differs considerably from the sleep state, in that the client remains conscious and is entirely aware of the whole process.

Hypnosis has been described as "a state of mind enhanced by (although not exclusively) mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious is able to communicate with our conscious mind".

This state of mind can be brought about by self hypnosis or aided by a professionally trained clinical hypnotist who uses the hypnotic state to encourage beneficial changes. This is the process known as clinical hypnotherapy.

Man's Life is a progress not a station.
RALPH WALDO EMERSON

Why Clinical Hypnosis?

We can use hypnotherapy to access our inner resources to facilitate beneficial change. Clinical hypnosis may help to unlock a person's capacity to heal themselves. Along with other counselling techniques, it may also be used in aiding the resolution of some relationship problems.

When is Clinical Hypnotherapy not used?

There are certain conditions where hypnotherapy is not a suitable treatment. A clinical hypnotherapist does not work with clients suffering from : severe depressive illness, epilepsy, psychosis (e.g. schizophrenia), some breathing problems.

Note: Anyone seeking clinical hypnotherapy for physical pain relief should first seek medical advice for that condition.

What can Clinical Hypnotherapy help with?

I trained at the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis UK and am a registered hypnotherapist with the General Hypnotherapy Register. This is the registering agency for the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. All registered hypnotherapist s have satisfied criteria regarding hypnotherapy training and adhere to a code of ethics and practice.

Testimonial

Dear Ann,

Well - the effects of that one session on my life long fear of public speaking really were quite astonishing. No nervous dread as the day drew nearer. Even the night before I could contemplate the coming speech without beginning to hyperventilate as I was already beginning to do when I came to see you last week. Even on the morning of the event itself I remained astonishingly serene. I kept waiting for the old terror to kick in at any moment. Assuming it must. But even when the moment came to stand I found myself rising quite calmly. And then opening my mouth to speak without fear. Something I have never known in my life before. It seemed truly miraculous. My sisters, knowing my fear of old, were both astounded.

I was so pleased with myself – so grateful to you – so frankly astonished that the whole thing could have proved quite so effective. There was not a single part of what you told me that didn’t run through my head and prove useful at some stage along the way – the being a woman of maturity with experience to impart – the visualisation of the speech going well – the seeing it run on a television – the thumb and index finger to remember a time I had been filled with positive confidence – the self-hypnosis.

Ann - I really do have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have liberated me in the most wonderful way and I’m still reeling with incredulity.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
